A product without a user hangs in a nebulous state of suspended animation. Its function remains intact as a theory, a pipe dream, something to be discussed in hush whispers but never fully realized. It takes one with an immense propensity for deliverance to impart the gift of the product and breathe new life into the once abeyant.
This burden of responsibility falls to the salesperson, and for a product as intricately crafted as Nosis, we required a salesperson of exception. Kyle Russel heard the call and answered with the most resounding ‘yes’ one could muster. Possessing an innate grasp of the sales process, Kyle has stepped into the role and elevated the team to new heights through his leadership and constant optimism. A master negotiator, a talented salesperson and an entirely decent bloke, we are lucky to have Kyle in our ranks.
In this interview, Kyle discusses his expertise in the field and what motivated him to pursue a career in sales. Additionally, he shared his view on what the future looks like for Infomatix and Nosis.
1. Tell us a bit about yourself. How did you begin your career, and what projects did you work on before Infomatix?
I initially started my sales career working for Groupon when group buying began and had a lot of hype around it. However, prior to Infomatix/Nosis, I worked as an intelligence analyst for the Department of Defence for almost five years, entailing a lot of complex research and regularly conducting briefings.
2. What job positions have you held over your career?
Before finding my path in sales, I did everything from working at Mcdonald's throughout high school to working for a summer camp in the US. While studying for a degree in Security and Counter-Terrorism, I worked as a Climb Leader, taking tourists from all over the world over the arches of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. All of my previous experiences have had their benefits, but working with people has always been my passion.
3. What is your favorite part about your job?
Two parts: First, meeting and talking with professionals from all over the world, and second, working with such an amazing team while they develop ground-breaking tools to better aid investors with their portfolios
4. What skills benefit you as the Sales Manager at Infomatix?
I love people and their stories, so being passionate about potential clients and genuinely wanting to understand their roles and how their company operates is vital to working out how we can benefit one another.
5. What data analysis tools did you use in the past, and what tools are you familiar with?
Salesforce, google analytics, the whole G Suite. And a lot of others that are not applicable to the civilian world.
6. What qualities did you look for when you hired sales representatives in the past?
Resilience + persistence, problem-solving skills, emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and a passion for growth. You can be the smartest and most experienced person in a room, but you can always learn from the least; confidence is key, but humility is more important.
7. What responsibilities do you have as the Head of Sales at Infomatix and Nosis?
Building our sales cycle, implementing and refining sales techniques, making sales, hiring a rockstar sales team, managing and mentoring the sales team.
8. Do you think Infomatix has the ability to revolutionize data collection? Please give us your vision of Infomatix-Nosis and where you see it in five years.
Nosis/Infomatix will definitely revolutionize FinTech, and I have no doubt about that; it has already started. It is impossible to tell how far we will go at this stage. The suite of tools already available to our clients is unlike anything else. As we grow, our opportunities grow exponentially. I am beyond excited to see where we will go, even in one year's time! What we offer in just a year's time will be astonishingly more than we do now, and this will be to the benefit of our clients and investors. The clients we are onboarding now are the lucky ones with which we will grow and get these tools before anyone else.
