Meet Our Team: Rudi Doubell
This article contains a summary of an interview with Infomatix’s very own social media management wizard, Rudi Doubell.
Hailing from Cape Town, South Africa, Rudi began with Infomatix in the role of Social Media Intern and has worked tirelessly to better his skill set and bolster Infomatix’s online presence. Now in charge of all social media activity across Infomatix’s staple of platforms, Rudi’s ability to tap into the zeitgeist of now has led to the ongoing creation of the content you know and love.
1. Can you tell us a little about your background and how your journey led you to Infomatix?
Who am I?
I am a 26-year-old digital marketer born and bred in Cape Town, South Africa. After finishing high school It was difficult for me to decide what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. So without any formal education, I applied for a couple of internships in various industries.
Not long after applying, I landed an intern role for a distance education start-up called ‘Skills Academy’. There I quickly went from being an ‘Intern Copy Writer’ to ‘Marketing administrator’ and then later ‘Social Media Advertising Specialist’.
I made sure to apply myself at every opportunity that presented itself. After five years of working in the digital marketing industry, I have acquired a broad set of skills that allow me to be a Swiss Army Knife in any marketing team I join.
Along came Infomatix
Earlier this year I was looking to find some freelance work, and this is when I came across Infomatix. I applied for the job role as a ‘Social media Intern’ where I assisted the bigger fish in the team with their daily tasks.
My potential was quickly scouted by the higher-ups and hence my new role as ‘Social Media Manager’ came to life. I have a deep interest in the world of web 3.0 technology and tech companies in general. So it was a no brainer for me to make the transition from Education to Blockchain.
I am excited to be working alongside such talented and driven individuals on a very exciting project. I can’t wait for our community and the rest of the world to see what we have planned for the near future.
2. What is your main objective when managing social media for a company?
Ah! That is an interesting question. You would expect the general answer to be ‘growth’ and to some extent, it definitely should be. Growth is very important! For me personally, I’ll always put most of my focus on coherency. All content should have the same look and feel when going out on different platforms.
3. What goals should Infomatix set for each of the social media accounts, and what does success look like?
For now, our target is to grow at a constant pace of 10% each week. This includes the maximum reach as well as follower gain. 10% might not seem like much but consistency is most important in this plan. We are in it for the long haul!
To me, success is becoming a household name. When someone mentions the word ‘pricing data’ I want ‘Infomatix’ to be the instant response. Our goal is global domination and we won’t settle for anything less ;)
4. What social media management software do you use most often to manage content?
Currently, I only use Later.com for all my social media management needs. It is truly a great app that helps roll out all of your social media content hassle-free. My other software favourites include freebies like Google Sheets & Google Docs. They are definitely less fancy but can still get the job done when used effectively.
5. How do you continually learn about new trends in the social media world?
Personally, I keep an eye on a few blogs within the digital industry. Other sources included yearly digital reports for all countries that I do business with. Here is an example of the South Africa 2020 Digital Report. These reports are a great way for me to understand the digital trends of the respective countries. They include important information like App rankings, E-commerce activities, population demographics, online browsing data and so much more.
6. Where do you see the future of social media marketing for Infomatix going?
One word — Advertising! We are planning to roll out some extensive social media campaigns in the not-so-distant future. Since the kick-start of our Facebook and Instagram accounts, our general reach has extended further than we could have hoped for. Hence our excitement to start advertising to these new audiences.
I am also planning on creating much more video content for the Infomatix & Nosis brands. Helping educate all our current and future investors about our great products in a fun and informative way.
